The Crow's Nest ("The Crow's Nest," "we," "us," or "our") is a grassroots community organization based in Pleasanton, California. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through thecrowsnestpleasanton.org (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices you have — including for our email newsletter and SMS text messaging program.

Information we collect

We collect information you give us directly, such as when you:

• Send us a message through our Contact Us form (name, email address, and your message);
• Fill out our Volunteer form (name, email address, phone number, and areas of interest);
• Sign up for our email newsletter (email address); or
• Opt in to receive SMS text messages from us (mobile phone number), described in detail below.

We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising trackers on this Site.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to respond to your messages, coordinate volunteering and programs, send our email newsletter to people who sign up for it, and send SMS text messages to people who opt in to our texting program. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Our SMS / text messaging program

If you opt in through a web form on this Site or by texting a keyword to us, you agree to receive SMS text messages from The Crow's Nest, such as event reminders, program updates, volunteer opportunities, and community announcements.

• Message frequency varies; you can expect up to 4 messages per month.
• Message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier for details on your plan.
• Consent to receive SMS messages is not a condition of any purchase or program enrollment.
• Your mobile phone number and opt-in status are used only to operate this texting program. We do not sell or share your mobile information with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. This does not include our SMS platform provider (Twilio), which processes messages on our behalf under its own privacy and security commitments.
• You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message from us. After you text STOP, we will send one final message confirming you have been unsubscribed, and you will receive no further messages unless you opt back in.
• For help, reply HELP to any message from us, or reach us through our Contact Us page.
• Supported carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

How we protect your information

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information you share with us. Form submissions are transmitted securely and stored in our administrative systems, which are accessible only to authorized Crow's Nest team members.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from our email newsletter at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email, and from our SMS program at any time by replying STOP. You can also ask us to update or delete information we hold about you by reaching out through our Contact Us page.

Children's privacy

Our programs serve families and children, but the forms on this Site — including the newsletter and SMS signup — are intended to be completed by a parent, guardian, or other adult. We do not knowingly collect personal information, phone numbers, or SMS opt-ins directly from children.
