Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our nest.
Our Mission & Vibe
What is the main mission of The Crow's Nest?
At our core, we are all about creating spaces where kids of all neurotypes can come together and just be in community. By sharing space with folks of all abilities, ages, genders, and backgrounds, kids naturally pick up superpowers like empathy, patience, leadership, and perseverance. Our big dream? To host programs that make everyone feel authentic, seen, heard, valued, and ready to be awesome stewards of their communities.
Who do your programs serve?
The whole family! We know it can be tough to find truly inclusive spaces where everyone feels welcome. That is why our programs intentionally bring parents, guardians, and siblings into the mix. We want your whole crew to have a place where they know they belong.
Are your programs considered therapy?
Nope! We are not a formal therapeutic intervention. However, we definitely sprinkle in therapeutic strategies and ideas to thoughtfully support the amazing kids and families who join us.
The Alviso Adobe Gardening Collective
How does the gardening collective work? Do I get my own plot?
The garden space at Alviso Adobe is 100% communal — think less “my plot” and more “our patch”! Instead of sectioning things off, we will all be getting our hands dirty together to maintain and nurture the property as a group.
How can I grab a trowel and get involved?
We would love to hear from you! Just hop over to our Contact Us page and shoot a message to Tara or Morgan for more details. Just a heads-up: garden registration is currently limited, so don't wait too long to say hi!
Joining the Flock & Supporting Us
How can I volunteer?
We are always looking for eager hands and big hearts to join our volunteer team! Just fly on over to our Volunteer page, fill out the quick form, and let us know you are interested.
What is next? Any fun future plans?
Oh, we have so many incredible ideas brewing! As our brainstorms turn into real-life events and programs, we will post all the exciting details right here on the website. Have a great idea for the community? We are always open to suggestions!
Are you a registered charity? Are my contributions tax-deductible?
Yes — The Crow's Nest is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and financial contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. They go straight into making our community programs happen!
